  • In Troubleshoot select Advance options and click on Command Prompt.
  • Open the command prompt using the administrator permission and type the following command.

cd %windir%\system32\config and press Enter
ren system.001 hit Enter 
ren software.001 press Enter

After it closes the command prompt and select continue option, operating system start reboot and fix the problem.

SOLUTION 2: USE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT TO FIX ERROR

However, if your PC does not show any restore point then follow the below steps:

  • Go to the Control Panel, and in search box type Recovery.
  • Select Recovery and go to the Configure System Restore.

  • In System, Protection Section selects the Configure.
  • Now turn on system protection and click OK to enable this option.

SOLUTION 3: CLEAN INSTALL WINDOWS

  1. On your system insert the Windows installation media device and restart your PC.
