As you know, windows are the most widely used operating system all across the world and there is no doubt that its user comfortability has earned it. Every second person that you meet is a windows user and that is the reason why Microsoft has to release new updates on its security and other applications, almost every month and these update releases don’t go always in the favour of the users. Sometimes buggy updates can land users in hot water.
Though we can count many problems with recent windows 10 update releases in this article we will be specifically talking about the problem with wireless adapter or access point.
So, what actually this problem is?
what is Problem With Wireless Adapter OR Access Point?
This Message is not mainly because of windows update, in fact, it usually involves the user’s mistake or inexperience. This problem arises when you do not resolve your wireless adapter properly (of course, if you use your internet via wireless adapter). Remember, whenever you connect a new wireless adapter to your computer, you will have to configure it to your computer settings, sometimes wrong IP configuration can also result in errors like a problem with wireless adapter or access points.
Is This Issue Common on Every Computer?
You will rarely see this error on desktop PCs because most of them use ethernet wire for internet connection. So, where does this type of error arise? The answer to this simple question is in laptops. Because laptops are usually connected to the internet using wireless adapters.
Can My Laptop Face This Issue?
I can’t answer this question with 100% certainty but what I can do is give you a few popular brand names that have had been facing this issue from quite a few years. Names are given below:
So, did you find your computer brand on this list? If yes then keep reading it and if NO then still keep reading this articles because your computer might also face the same problem in future.
There are many ways to resolve this issue and I am going to explain each and every one of them:
1- Resetting Your Router
This is one of the most simple and easiest ways to resolve your router-related problems. Remember, resetting your router can not only resolve your access point and router configuration issues but can even help you resolve other issues like same IP address detected on two computers etc.
Note: once you reset your router settings, you will lose all router related settings, passwords or cookies.
To reset your router, you will need to press the router reset button that will be present on your router.
2- Windows Updates can also Fix Your Issue
This is the least effective method to get this issue fixed but I have seen some cases where your windows update can fix this issue. As you know, Microsoft is a trillion dollar company that has partnered with many companies that manufacture hardware pieces like routers and these errors can be fixed if a proper update is released. This method to fix your issue is totally optional and will not always fix your issue.
3- Change Your Router Credentials
After visiting tons of internet pages, I have been recommended one point, again and again, i.e. if you change your router credentials then it can fix your issue but still, I don’t think if change your credentials will simply resolve your issue, especially if your problem is kind of complex.
4- Enable Your Wireless Adapter Settings
Sometimes you can face problems with your wireless adapters if your adapter settings are not enabled. You will need to enable your adapter settings. Sometimes adapter settings get disabled automatically if you install some unknown or third-party software and following is the method:
First of all, you will need to press Windows + x from your keyboard and then select Device manager from the popped up list. Now double click on your adapter settings and open it. Find drivers option and enable it if it is disabled and if it is already enabled then leave it as it is.
5- Anti-Virus Can Also Cause Trouble
Sometimes, your anti-virus can also manually disable your router settings to prevent you from the viruses or hacking attacks from the internet. So, if you are facing some router disability issues then try turning your router off and after disabling your ant-virus, if the problem is fixed then turn your anti-virus on as it is important for your online security.
6- Command Prompt | The Best Solution
Command prompt can help you resolve many computer issues in no time. Yes, it can also help you resolve the problem with wireless adapter or access points. So, follow my words:
First of all, you will need to launch your command prompt and to do so, search for cmd in your start search bar. After CMD is open with a black screen, write following commands one by one and keep pressing enter after every command.
- netsh winsock reset
- netsh int ip reset
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /renew
- ipconfig /flushdns
after all, commands have been executed, now your problem should have been resolved, restart your computer and examine if the problem still exists.
7 – Never Forget Your Router Password
In some cases, users can’t change their router settings or resolve the problem with their wireless adapter or access points because they don’t really know the exact password to log in to their router’s backend. Make sure that you are entering the correct password, or reset your router to get the basic password is printed on the backside of your router.
8- Update Your Drivers
Problem with your wireless adapter can also arise if your computer drivers are not up to date. So, go to your laptop or computer company’s official website to find the appropriate website.
Hope any of my given plans will work for your computer’s wireless adapter or access point problems.
